In the following FAQ, you will find the answers to the questions most frequently asked to our professionals here at Translation Montreal. Do not hesitate to contact us if this FAQ doesn't answer your questions, if you have a question on a particular topic or if you wish to get additional information on a specific issue.
How much will the translation cost?
Our rates depend on many aspects: field, language(s) needed, scope of the work (required resources for performing the work), required deadline, file format. Generally, translation services are invoiced based on a rate per word. Editing, localization, interpretation and desktop publishing services are invoiced per hour or based on a percentage of the project scope.
Do you accept urgent translation jobs?
Of course we do. Send us your document and indicate your deadline and we'll process your translation job within the shortest possible time.
How much time does it take to translate a document, website or software?
It all depends on the complexity of the project. The other tasks related to translation must also be taken into account, such as document preparation, the editing phase and the approval process. On average, a translator translates 1,500 words a day. It generally takes as much time to translate the document as it took to write its original version. After assessing your project, we will be more than pleased to set a deadline for your translation job.
What are your working fields in translation?
Our working fields are as diverse as your needs. You will find everything on this aspect in the Sectors of Activity section.

Yes, we provide certified translation services in Spanish and French thanks to our translators who are members of OTTIAQ (Ordre des traducteurs, terminologues et interprètes agréés du Québec). Contact our team for more information depending on your translation needs.
What is the difference between a translation agency and free online translation tools?
Some free resources available online can help you understand the general idea of a text, but it cannot replace the quality work performed by a human translator in any way. Note that these tools translate words, whereas our professionals translate ideas, using the idiomatic form specific to that language.
Why deal with Translation Montreal?
Despite the extensive scope of our operations, you will always be treated in a cordial and professional manner by one of our specialists because we value the human contact between translator and client and we will never treat you as "just a number".
How do you hire your translators?
We recruit experienced translators who possess a university degree in translation or the equivalent. They must pass a translation test that is assessed by our review committee and we consider their areas of specialization and their professional experience.
Do you have any partnership agreements with other translation agencies?
Yes. We have concluded agreements with some agencies for the localization of your products for other markets (South America, Europe, etc.) and for some desktop publishing services provided by Translation Montreal.
